Return to the conversation between Little Chandler and Ignatius Gallagher on pages 145-149. Re-read it closely, noting how each character views other… what qualities or traits he seems to assume or infer, versus what conclusions are supportable by direct evidence or claims.

Write a short paragraph explaining how Ignatius Gallagher looks from Chandler's perspective, noting which of these qualities Chandler seems to project on IG and which he seems actually to possess. Then, do the same for Chandler from IG's perspective. Does either man have a particularly accurate portrait of the other? Why is this significant to the "point" of the story?

If you finish with these questions, ask yourself what the narrator thinks of each man, and choose particular words or phrases that support your conclusion.
