Activity: The Apostate

Much of what's interesting about "The Apostate" is Johnny's filter, and how his attitude toward his situation evolves over the course of the story. With your group members, I want you to plot three significant points in the evolution of Johnny's attitude. For each point, find a representative quotation from the text that exemplifies Johnny's attitude. Explain how London control's the reader's perception of Johnny, and note any choices that London might have made in order to give us a different impression.
